Texas executed a man who did
not kill anyone.
We love you James

We will honor James’ legacy and continue to advocate.

James Broadnax was executed in Texas on April 30 for murders he didn’t commit. The actual shooter confessed, and DNA evidence supports his admission. James’ trial was riddled with racial bias- prosecutors excluded every possible Black juror and even used rap lyrics he wrote as a teenager to argue for his death sentence. He has been on death row for 18 years.

James is loved. We asked Governor Abbott for mercy.

We asked the Governor of Texas and the Texas Board of Pardon and Paroles to stop this execution. We requested reconsideration based on the evidence presented and the transformation James has experienced in prison. The petition we had was signed by over 80,000 people.
